The Project Development Institute (PRODA) in Enugu has launched the third edition of its annual games festival, featuring football, volleyball, and table tennis. Alongside these, this year’s festival introduces new games including chess, darts, and draughts — expanding the variety of sports available.

At the opening, PRODA’s Director-General, Peter Okwudili Ogbobe, urged participants to play with the spirit of camaraderie and fun, emphasizing that the goal is team-building and unity among staff rather than competition or aggression.

To motivate participants, PRODA is offering cash prizes for winners — with the exact amounts depending on the sport. For example, winners in the football category will receive ₦300,000, while first runners-up get ₦200,000; similar rewards apply for volleyball, table tennis, chess, and other newly introduced games.

Reflecting on last year’s inter-agency games, PRODA noted strong performance from it’s team, placing third among research institutes in the South East. Ogbobe expressed hope that as the festival grows, even more games will be added, boosting interest and participation among staff.
