Engr. Dr. Edwin Chika Oriaku began his pursuit in Engineering by attending the Federal Polythecnic Bida in Niger State where he graduated with a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical/Production Engineering in 1983.  He later attended the Enugu State University of Sienece and Technology (ESUT) where he obtained a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) and a  Master of Engineering (M.Engr) Degree, both in Mechanical Engineering in 1994 and 1997 respectively.

In further pursuit of knowledge in the Engineering field, he attended the prestigious nnamdi Azikwe University Awka in Anambra state where he obtained the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering 2014.

In his working career progression in Projects Development Institute (PRODA) Enugu, he has held many positions in Engineering Research Development and Production.

  • in 2004-2006 he was promoted to the post of Chief Research Officer in the Engineering field; During this period he made giant strides in the field, among them are; (i) Construction, installation and Layout of an herbal processing plant in Enugu.  (ii) Design of soya bean flour processing plant; capacity 3 metric tons in 8hrs work installed in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
  • in 2007-2013, he was made a Deputy Director in charge of Agro and Allied Produce Processing Research Division of Projects Development Institute (PRODA) Enugu.  In this division, he designed and produced many Agro produce processing equipment that earned him patents.

In 2014, he was made a substantive Diretor/HOD of the Engineering Research Development and Production department, a post he his holding to date.

Presently as Director and HOD, he is carrying out man projects in the department. Among them are:

  • Automation of cassava processing flow line to Garri and starch.
  • Automation of Palm fruit processing flow line to red oil and palm kernel oil.

Engr. Dr. Edwin C. Oriaku is a COREN Registered Engineer, a fellow of Nigeria Society of Engineers(FNSE), a fellow of Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (FNIMechE). He has contributed a lot to the growth of NSE and NIMech.E in Enugu Chapter and Engineering in general. He has chaired man technical sessions, presented many seminar papers and has over twenty (20) journal publications both locally and internationally to his credit. He has attended many technical trainings and workshops in Nigeria and abroad.
